so, I applied for the ING NYC Marathon, I find out on the 29th if I got a spot or not!
The past two days in photos. Most days I think I have the greatest job.

I posted this on my Facebook but besides a select few… none… of my nearly 1,000 “friends” seemed to take notice, maybe I can get some help here… I’m so close to my goal.
So about 3 weeks ago I had this crazy idea… I wanted to run in a half-marathon. Which is funny because I was only running an average of 2 miles a couple times of week (if that), with the farthest I’ve ever run being 3 miles. I googled this idea of mine and it seemed like most people didn’t suggest training for a half-marathon in 4 weeks, 12 weeks was the minimum suggested. However, I found one site with a months worth of training information and I decided to stick to it. Within 3 runs I was able to increase my distance to 6 miles, last week I was able to run 7, and this week I painfully ran 8 :P. After consulting many of my friends who have run halfs I decided that today was the perfect time to sign up for the Brooklyn half-marathon which is on May 18th, where I plan on crossing the finish line even if it’s very slowly. But here’s where I need some help, I decided to join Team for Kids because why do this just for myself when I can be helping and doing good for others as well, specifically children. I’ve been spending a lot of time with children up here in NY and it’s just made me realize even more how important it is that they have the right outlets to channel their potential; Team for Kids funds go towards the services necessary for this which inspire youth to be active. My family and close friends know that I’m very passionate about the time I spend with the kids I work and volunteer with, but that I am also equally as passionate about health issues so the fact that these two are combined make me so excited to run with Team for Kids. ANY support will be greatly appreciated :)
I love street fairs!!! I enjoyed some live music (I was asking Jasmine this… but does that mean I’m getting old? I feel like my father), falafel and hummus, and bought some things that I obviously didn’t really need.
It was only Sunday that I ran 3.1 miles, the most I have ever run, but today I beat that not only by a mile, but in my average pace by a few seconds too. Around 3.5 miles I literally didn’t think I couldn’t make it. At 3.8 miles I thought I was going to die. A few seconds after reaching 4 miles I felt like I couldn’t even move…. but now I feel great :) Now I just have to maintain + improve.
Apparently eating ice cream before a run can pay off, or maybe it’s the fact that I’ve been running a consistent amount this week, but I’ve never run this much before and even then it felt ridiculously easy, like I probably could have kept going. Oh, note the temperature, it was beautiful out today.
Yes, I realize this is essentially a photo of nothing but seriously… the #passionpit concert was so much fun. #msg #madisonsquaregarden #nyc #sleepyhead (at Madison Square Garden)
